[BOOK] Perfect Liars Author Kimberly Reid – easyaddress.us One of the things I appreciated about Perfect Liars was the way details were doled out and how I learned and about past events as time went on While I feel like the pacing was pretty uneven in the first half things picked

[BOOK] Perfect Liars Author Kimberly Reid – easyaddress.us Perfect Liars is a lot of fun in my favorite city and I like a little hint of boarding school hijinks in the South but while the beginning of the tale sets you up for a suspense the plot doesn't move fast enough those who love a mystery will still like it especially if you're into her previous titles or those by beloved au

Estions and on my site at Shannamilesnet See Of My Reviews See of my reviews The "YA KittenDiversity Rating 3 "KittenDiversity Rating 3 to RealityRacial Ethnic 4 Andrea and her brother are biracial Xavier is Korean I believe Gigi is LatinaUILTBAG 0Disability 0Intersectionality 2 plenty of acknowledgement of how different Andrea s life is rom Xavier s because of her amily s ill begotten wealthTu Books is probably one of *My Favorite Publishers And Yet *favorite publishers and yet is the irst time I ve read one of their books Seems silly I know but their dedication to publishing diverse representative books and the truth that Faith Fairies flowsrom their Twitter Greetings from Witness Protection! feed daily has always impressed me Meeting the tweeps behind the account at ALA was lovely and my copy of Perfect Liars has a dedication that I ll likely remember the story behindor the rest of my lifeBut to cut to the chase I didn t like Perfect Liars very much It s a deeply introspective caper and will need just the right reader to appreciate thatRight off the bat I ve got to praise the racial diversity of the novel Drea is biracial Xavier is Korean and I believe Gigi is Latina but I Spot forgot to mark where that was indicated In theory they re all incredible people worthollowing even though we spend the most time with Drea Xavier was born in South Korea and ended up in the The Hotel New Hampshire foster care system after hisather died Gigi is a gifted grifter who knows how to use her looks to get what she wants and can put on an act like nobody s business Drea The playing it straight daughter of two lifelong grifters so good even she can t A Dangerous Man (Women and Men, figure out their liesUnfortunately the characters don t have that magnetic pull in their execution Gigi in particular suffers because we never learn why she lives the way she does What little we see of her in the novel doesn t shed much light on her motivations I WANT MORE GIGIThe three come together at a party Drea s parents throw the summer before her junior year of high school We get that small section and then there s a timeskip to the end of the school year which uickly tells us both Xavier and Gigi uit attending Drea s ultra exclusive prep school halfway through theirst term Drea only sees him again when she s trying to break into her school at the same time he is The timeskip creates an odd hole that makes readers Sizzling Seduction feel like they re missing something when they really aren t See the crush Drea apparently developed on Xavier in the month or two he spent at the schoolThe third person omniscient POV all this plays out in isn t used well either Major reveals of details like Drea s parents being grifters who went straight are dropped so casually it almost reuires rereads to clear up your confusion I point to the attempted school break inor another example in which a man is staking out the school Her Secret Husband (Secrets of Eden, for his employer and we get his POV mostly to make things dramatic This makes it obvious there s a conspiracy afoot and kills some of the tension so the book would have been better off without those specific sectionsAs a introspective caper Perfect Liars has a lax pace that consists of gathering information than putting any legwork intoiguring out how the cops got to Xavier and his cohort so uickly at the school Once again it s the kind of conspiracy that sounds engrossing at a glance complete with plenty of blackmail and attempts to rig an election which would screw over the kids of the intervention esue Justice Academy but comes together so slowly that it s easy to get bored and put the book downMaybe part of the problem is bad advertising that sets up impossible expectations The jacket copy doesn t at all describe what goes on in Perfect Liars In a sentence the daughter of grifters gone straight tries to break into her school and change her grades a bit but when her crush is trying to break in too and gets caught in the act suspiciously uick she s drawn into a juvenile offender intervention program and a plot that would get the place shut down if the upcoming election is successfully riggedI haven t seen anything to indicate Perfect Liars will have a seuel but the ending leaves things open Takedown for another bookull of Drea s efforts to bring her parents home I don t think I d read it If you like your capers less action packed introspective and racially diverse this book will hit the spot Baby, Im Yours (Guys And Daughters, for you Alas it couldn t satisfy me I ve definitely got to readrom Tu Books thoug. Tes could not be different She's rich and privileged; they're broke and well criminal But Drea's got a secret she has in common with the juvie kids than they d ever suspect When it turns out they share a common enemy Drea suggests they join Her Counterfeit Husband forces to set things right Sometimes to save the day a good girl's gotta be Lly started toeel like there was something of substance between them Kimberly Reid touches on race and class issues in the novel whether that s anti black racism or the poor in the criminal justice system Once they really start opening up to each other their relationship was one that I was happy to root Heart of the Night (Secret Agent forDrea is an engaging narrator and I particularly enjoyed her casual and often humorous or snarky observations I wasn t asond of the other scattered and weaker viewpoints we got in the book though I understand why some of them were absolutely necessary Drea s attempts to balance her current image against her The Greek Bosss Demand family s past were an interesting push and pull act that definitely upped the pressure in her life This was very apparent in her initial attitude toward the Justice Academy students particularly since heramily made its wealth of crime and were simply good or lucky enough not to be caught by authorities before they February or Forever (Tarrins Bay fled town Drea slowly confronting her own privilege and bias was a great part of the storyMy one major nitpick is that I wish Gigi had been a plentiful presence in the book though I can understand why she wasn t As it is she was absentor long stretches of it and got even less screen time than Jason who was one of the least interesting good guys or me However Gigi was always unforgettable when she was on screen Tiana was another memorable character who I wished had taken up space unforgettable when she was on screen Tiana was another memorable character who I wished had taken up space the novelRecommendation Get it soon Perfect Liars is a solid entry into the YA mystery genre While I have a ew gripes about the pacing and the initial romance once the mystery kicks into high gear and the characters really start to open up to each other the book becomes great I m looking A Virgin For The Taking (Clemenger Sisters forward touture books What She Saw / Operation Reunion from this author Perfect Liars is nothing brilliant but it is extremelyun light and smart This is the type of read that will get you out of your slumpWhat sets this book apart The Moretti Marriage from its peers is the diversity It s not your regular YA storyilled with privileged white kids It is a tale of delinuent teenagers The Dark Duke from different culture and social belonging whoinds solidarity with each otherSplendid Fucking spot on We need of thisMy only moan is the delicate opening of the book and the characterization could use an ironing But overall this book is winning awards in my opinion Perfect Liars would definitely appeal to Six of Crows and Heist Society ans they have the same timbre of story telling Andrea Faraday is considered smart rich and privileged but she is also the child of grifters posing as legitimate antiue collectors During the exclusive Woodruff School s Welcome Back Gala a heist extraordinaire occurs Drea and her brother Damon a rookie patrol officer suspect their parents who take off to Europe Andrea s perfect behavior crumbles with shoplifting and a valedictorian eliminating grade Attempting to break into Woodruff to change that *grade she runs into Xavier and Jason in a BE of their own Only the *she runs into Xavier and Jason in a BE of their own Only the are caught and detained Drea is rescued by her brother who signs her up to tutor at Justice Academy where she once again runs into juvies Xavier and Jason and a ormer acuaintance Gigi Drea soon realizes that there isn t much difference between herself and them When these teens band together to Starting Over on Blackberry Lane (Life in Icicle Falls fight a common enemy everything changes Readers will enjoy the rich diversity of the main characters in this mystery Perfect Liars is a lot ofun in my The Soul Of A Thief favorite city and I like a little hint of boarding school hijinks in the South but while the beginning of the tale sets you upor a suspense the plot doesn t move Claiming His Desert Princess (Hot Arabian Nights fast enough those who love a mystery will still like it especially if you re into her previous titles or those by beloved author Stephanie Perry Moore The bright spots are really the relationship between Andrea and her brother I loved their easy siblingriendship and genuine care or each other especially in a crisis Although I would have liked to see ire between Xavier the love interest and Andrea We get that she has a crush on him but there doesn t seem to be much behind it but it is high school Is there ever anything real behind a crush in 11th gradeI d definitely pick this book up to Mystify (Mystyx, flesh out your personal uick picksor reluctant readers If their used to novella length titles this is a great entry point to longer worksYou can get discussion Much worse Pretty soon she's struck up the world's least likely The New Baby friendship with the juvenile delinuents at Justice Academy the last exit on the road to jail and theirst stop on the way outIf she were telling it straight riendship might not be the right word to describe their alliance since Drea and her new associa. .
Disclaimer DNF page 109Sorry Kimberly Reid but I think I m going to have to shelve this one with the DNF sThe premise is intriguing the characters are m going to have to shelve this one with the DNF sThe premise is intriguing the characters are mysterious enough the atmosphere is appropriately high classbut I think it s the narration that s throwing me off I don t usually badmouth books or their narration style at all surely not every novel can be narrated in the P.I. Daddys Personal Mission (The Coltons of Montana, first person andlow well but I really Say Youll Stay And Marry Me feel *likeirst person narration would have helped this story Drea is an interesting main character but I Rafaellos Mistress feel distantrom *first person narration would have helped this story Drea is interesting main character but I The Boleyn King (The Boleyn Trilogy, feel distantrom her haven t returned to this book in almost three Rascal full days and you know it s probably a DNF case if you re avoiding a book and if she would talk inirst person POV I just Another Day of Life feel like the whole tone of the story wouldeel different Someh the What Would You Like? first three uarters were a bit slow but the end made upor it loved the characters and the Narcissus in Chains (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, foundamily vibes Sat down with this book late Monday night and didn t put it down til early Tuesday morning when I got to the last page Really appreciate that the protagonist is mixed race and her love interest is also a person of color but race isn t a central theme I also appreciate the way Reid walks the reader through Drea s change in perception around kids caught in the juvenile justice system and how the kids she originally Cinderella for a Night (36 Hours, fears as criminals are actually well kids and real people not monsters Ielt the pacing was a bit odd in some places but I would be lying if I said I didn t thoroughly enjoy myself The way important information was revealed to the reader so casually was something that I honestly hated at Friend Foe first but I grew to love it after a while This was veryun and I loved all the characters and their dynamics As a The Longevity Diet few people have mentioned there is a bit of theound Grassroots Innovation family trope which I absolutely adore but I do wish that we got to see of some of the side characters Like Tiana or AngieEDIT I bumped up my rating a star cause Ieel this book is of a 35 than a 3 and I like to round up First I really enjoyed this book No it wasn t perfect but it was still very good Ignore the synopsis because it is very misleading One of the things that annoyed me was the beating to death of the act that Drea is not who she was pretending to be that she was secretly a criminal Other than her dwelling on it over and over and over there isn t any real evidence of her criminality I liked the dynamics of the characters I ound Jason to be Architecture and Utopia funny and I think he s myavorite Drea was super smart but did some stupid things but they somehow Perfect Cities fit into her personality if that makes sense Gigi was a handful popping in and out as the story needed her But Ieel like there s room Prometheus Wired for her to grow into Xavier was like and iceberg What he wanted you to know was just the surface There is so much underneath The instant attraction between Drea and Xavier was stupid so I was glad that they didn t act on it The romance was allowed to build and it never became theocus of the plot The mystery slowly started unraveling and this pulled me into the story even I really liked watching Drea slowly put things together and unknowingly move into a leadership role I don t think there s anyone better or it I liked the ending and how we didn t know everything that was going on I do eel like it was a bit rushed Even though there is going on things that may be resolved in book two the ending was satisfying I ll definitely be keeping my eye out Special Topics in Calamity Physics forrom this author One of the things I appreciated about Perfect Liars was the way details were doled out and how I learned and about past events as time went on While I Seven More Languages in Seven Weeks feel like the pacing was pretty uneven in theirst half things picked up uickly in the second half I was Scenes from a Revolution fully engaged with the mystery which took me by surprise than once and I m hoping the open ish ending is an opportunityor uture books in the series I would love to learn about Drea s parents or starters and about what the Faradays were like before they settled down in Peachland or assumed a new surname I also want to see of the Faraday Microsoft Visual C family dynamics especially Drea and her brother who were consistently great togetherIt took me a while to buy into Drea and Xavier s budding romantic relationship as Ielt like it had very little to go off of early on The scene at the restaurant was one of the turning points Soulprint for me as Iina. Andrea Faraday is junior class valedictorian at the exclusive Woodruff School where she was voted Most Likely to Do Everything Right But looks can be deceiving When her parents disappear her life and her Perfect Girl charade begins to crumble and her scheme to put things right just takes the situation rom bad to so.
