She returns unable to explain her absence but what returns certainly Band of Soldiers looks his sister but something in Annie had changedThe character Joe isikeable in some ways he s not a good guy nor is he a bad guy but Joe definitely has a secretArnhill has a past a creepy one at that once a mining village it s now a community on the decline after the mine shut there has always Been Rumours About The Mine Being Haunted But Most People rumours about the mine being haunted but most people believe they are just rumours or are they This book The Jewels of Manhattan like its predecessor had me on the edge of my seat shouting out at times too when I thought I d solved the mystery just when I thought I had bump there was another twist All the characters in the book have a past that isn t always a nice one either some just want answers It s prologue and epilogue are purely chilling and these alone as well as various other parts of the book had that spine tingling hairs standing up on the back of your neck feelingThroughout the book there is the creepyurking feeling of dread things hiding in shadows chittering and skittering noises Nation as Mother love those descriptions The book buildsayer upon The Tryst Betrayed layer all set around finding out what really happened to AnnieCJ Tudor this week has been uoted as being Britain s female answer to Stephen King What an accolade butooking back we haven t had that many good female Horror writers for me she s the best yet some people describe her books as mystery horror books and for the most I agree but as my partner said maybe there should be a cryptic horror genre where these books would fit in The Chalkman was Tudors debut book and was very good since then her writing has grown in confidence and this shines through in The Taking of Annie Thorne Her writing is in a simple style that doesn t confuse you even though there are uite a number of characters and twists you never Barron's AP Biology Flash Cards, 3rd Edition lose sight of anything in the story She hooks you into the story from the beginning and doesn t stop till the veryast page of her bookI already want to read this book again and Amrita Sher-Gil look forward to the paperback copy coming out in July this year Tudor haseft me once again with a huge reading hangover as she did with The Chalkman but in a good way for me she s right up in my top five of my favourite authors of all timeI d Flashback My Life And Times In Bollywood And Beyond love to see either of her books made into a film and do I think she s the next female Stephen King Not at all she s a horror writer that is much better in many ways than him even though as an older teenager and into my twenties he was my favourite author I soonost interest in his City Improbable later books For me she is the new horror writer of this century and I mooking forward to reading The Other People which is due out next FebruaryI have gave this 55 on Goodreads and would have gone stars if I d been allowedWell done C J Tudor and I m The Big Bookshelf looking forward to her thoughts on my review For me this book started really well if aittle gruesome however by the end of the book I was uite honestly glad to finish it It became far fetched I thought and unbelievable and ended with too many unanswered uestions for me What exactly happened to Annie in the pit and what was behind the deaths of Julia and Ben at the beginning It just didn t flow for me and as for who turned out to be Fat Man What was the point Unnecessary as it wasn t as though this was a mystery that had been eating away at you anyway so needless Weak I thought in what was a really promising star. Hat it makes me wonder if The Taking of Annie Thorne was actually written first overall I was disappointed All #that said i l certainly ook out for #said I l certainly Charming the Firefighter (In Shady Grove, look out for Tudor s third novel and I m sure shel make a return to form I read this in a heartbeat My God Tudor s writing is just pure entertainment Witty dark and funny all at the same time It s amazing how she s able write a male character so well Joe s personality his ideals sense of humor and hilarious remarks are very particular and it seemed Making India Work like his narrative could have only been written by the protagonist himselfThe mystery got my attention immediately and even though we already new what was happening fairly early in the book the writing and a few surprises had m What a ripoff Enjoyed The Hiding Place so just had Annie Thorne delivered It s the SAME book just different titles WHY Thought it was a preuel to The Hiding Place There s an idea write about what happened to Annie while she was missing That could be all kinds of creepy I didn t realize until I purchased this book was that I had already read the book I was actually getting the UK versionoh wellso instead of returning the book I donated it to a book drop off sponsored by myocal public ibraryget a book drop off a bookso it was actually a win win situtation Having thoroughly enjoyed C J Tudor s Chalk Men I preordered her two forthcoming novels The Hiding Place and The Taking of Annie Thorne They both arrived but imagine my disappointment and anger when I discovered that they are EXACTLY the same book This is in my opinion completely unacceptable I Enjoyed this book it was well written and had good suspense however the plot was far too similar to Pet Semetary by Stephen King so there wasn t much originality in my opinion I was uite disappointed because the summary really intrigued me Would Not Recommend Good Book Be Cautious This Book And not recommend Good book Be cautious This book and Hiding Place are the same book byCJTudorJust different Publishers I was really disappointed I enjoyed this book almost as much as the Chalk Man It was uick paced It kept me on the edge of my seat especially the part of how the accident happened and AnnieI will definitely be reading from this author After reading The Chalkman by Tudor ast year which by the way was my favourite book of 2018 I was ecstatic when I found out she was releasing another book this year so much so I d had the book on preorder for my kindle since ast JulyCould this book be as good as The Chalkman well et me tell you now it s surpassed even my expectations Below is my overview of this book and I can tell you now it s not easy to review her books as you really do not want to give any of the plot awayThe book No Way Home launches with a fantastic prologue which for me sets the scene for the rest of the book and even at that point so early on I knew I would be in for one hell of a roller coaster read The prologue is very dark gory and not for the faint heartedJoe Thorne forty years old returns back to the mining village of Arnhill in Nottingham where he grew up a gambler heavy drinker and running away from his debts he is back to take a job as a teacher in his onceocal secondary school Arnhill AcademyJoe has received an anonymous email telling him I know what happened to your sister it s happening again Joe was always going to return as he needed to put the past to restTwenty five years ago Joes sister Annie goes missing for forty eight hours. Review Taking of Annie Thorne

LIVED THIS BOOKBE WARNED ITS THE EXACT SANE AS THE HIDING PLACE BY HERso disappointed thought it was a new book by this author Exact same story as the hiding place with changed title I really oved this book so much I read it 2 times I could not put it down I am waiting for the next book by this author so I can continue reading books Unlikeable characters Lacking in plot structure Was taken in by the hype I do not recommend The Taking Of Annie Thorne published in the US under the title The Hiding Place is CJ Tudor s second novel Her horror tinged psychological thriller The Chalk Man was one of my favourite reads of 2018 and was widely praised even carrying an endorsement from Stephen King who saw in it echoes of his own workThe Taking Of Annie Thorne is really horror than thriller Joe Thorne a teacher with a shady past returns to the Nottinghamshire mining village in which he grew up to take a job at his former secondary school He s short of money for reasons DK Adventures later revealed and decides to rent a cottage that nobody else will touch primarily because it s the site of a recent horrifically gruesome murder suicide carried out by the very teacher whose old job he s filling Arnhillike so many villages all but destroyed by pit closures under the Thatcher government is a miserable place with a general air of insularity and neglect and when Joe was growing up there also the scene of an appalling family tragedy involving the disappearance of his In The Name of God little sister an unsolved mystery which tore the Thorne family apart Which raises the obvious uestion if Arnhill holds nothing but bad memories why has Joe decided to to go back there What unfolds is a dark horror story with several twists but in contrast to The Chalk Man The Taking Of Annie Thorne feelsike a fairly formulaic tale If you saw scenes and characters inspired by Stephen King s work in The Chalk Man you l see a major plot element in The Taking Of Annie Thorne which is all but identical to the entire premise of one of King s best known novels I won t say which one because if you ve read it this would be a serious spoiler but I will say that what felt ike homage in The Chalk Man feels as if it s edging into fanfiction in The Taking Of Annie Thorne There were so many other Things That Tudor Could that Tudor could had happen to Annie during her disappearance than the explanation that s given and the book would have been effective tooA Operation Lipstick lot of the dialogue is contrived with too much self conscious wisecracking and clumsily executed sarcasm that s never actually particularly witty I also just couldn t engage with the crime related subplot of this book in which Joe is entangled with a sinister gangland figure to whom he owes a substantial amount of money I don t think it s particularly well executed and it jars with the rest of the bookWhile I didn t find Joe Thorne remotelyikeable I didn t need to in order to care about what happened to him He s a selectively unreliable narrator of course and his choices are consistently poor both in childhood and as an adult but I found him interesting in particularly his relationship with his From Blah to Awe little sister is somewhat ambiguous in its intensity The horror elements of the novel are while derivative than I d haveiked also very effective and the multiple twists towards the end of the book were not something I saw comingThe Chalk Man is a much accomplished and subtle work so much so Please Read Notes Brand New International Softcover Edition Printed in black and white pages mi.
